Co-Designing the Women's Wellbeing Compass

Women's Wellbeing Compass

We invited women with lived experience to co-design a resource that would be used by a team of IRCPAs if implemented. This turned into what we called the Women’s Wellbeing Compass. It is a sprial-bound activity book for mothers in recovery going through care proceedings and the support staff who are working with them.

Co-designed with women with lived experience, the Women’s Wellbeing Compass is designed to provide an opportunity for a woman to reflect on her recovery and parenting journey, to facilitate relational trust-building with professionals (ideally an IRCPA), and provides an opportunity for a support worker to translate her responses into language understood by social care. It is made up of three key elements:

  • Reflective questions, accompanied by creative activities to help the woman reflect
  • Meeting preparation and end-of-meeting note-taking templates
  • A confidence glossary of important terminology related to care proceedings processes
