My research focuses on reconstructing relative sea level and environmental change on Quaternary timescales. I work on seismic coasts reconstructing land-level change associated with past great earthquakes, in particular in Chile and Alaska. I am also interested in palaeoenvironmental change in polar regions, particularly around the Antarctic Peninsula. I work in a variety of environments, including tidal marshes, isolation basins, raised beaches, and use a combination of sedimentology, microfossil and geochronological methods for reconstructing past environments.
