About IC3
The International Centre for Connected Construction (IC3) is a centre of excellence fostering world leading applied research and innovation in collaboration with academia, industry and the public sector. It champions the use of digital technologies and connected construction to address the persistent and pressing sector challenges such as low productivity and safety.
North East England has a vibrant digital construction cluster, globally renowned for their expertise. IC3 is accelerating this regional capability by providing a flagship that enables collaboration and partnership across the construction and digital sectors, academia and government, with global impact.
At its core, IC3 champions digital transformation across the entire construction life cycle to catalyse economic growth and safe, healthy, sustainable and effective built environments.
There are two key strands of work:
- Collaborative applied research and innovation
- Global partnerships and knowledge exchange
An open data and innovation platform is being developed to support these activities and will be a major vehicle for dissemination. Education and skills are also recognised as key enabler to realise the ambitions of IC3 and open up further opportunities across the sector.
