I am Anna Carter, the new research fellow at Northumbria University, working on this very exciting and playful project.
I thought I would use this space to introduce myself. I am a researcher by day and a cat mom by night. My research sits at the intersection of HCI, playfulness, civic imagination and urban regeneration, exploring how playfulness, care and hope can reorient design toward social connection and collective wellbeing. Through participatory and futuring methods, I investigate how everyday interactions – between people, places and technologies – can nurture belonging and creative agency. When I’m not researching, you’ll find me with my two cats, Sergeant Nicholas Angel and Ahsoka Tano, or indulging my love of all things Star Wars. You’ll probably read posts from me over the course of this project, and if you are already involved you will definitely get an email from me at some point.

We also have loads of ways that you can get involved in the project, whether you want to redesign a module, become a case study, or just meet and greet other playful practitioners; get in touch with us or check out this blog for updates (or our upcoming podcast 🤫).
