Northumbria University’s Magazine

If you want to get into publishing, volunteering with On Edge is a great first step.

Volunteering Positions

Running a magazine takes a team. At On Edge, we’re always looking for more volunteers. From editorial to photography, there are many skills you could bring to the table. Some of the roles at On Edge include:

Artists

On Edge would love to work with artists to design digital assets for our website, Instagram and posters. We also like to collaborate to create artwork for the covers of our print editions.

Journalists

We would like to be able to produce interviews, reviews, and advice for our website. This would include attending events such as gallery exhibitions and poetry readings and contacting creatives in and around the university.

Photographers

This involves photographing and editing images to correspond with the magazine’s posts on social media and the submissions we post both online and in print.

Social Managers

To help revive our Instagram, you will post regularly and collaborate with the social media accounts of other groups, such as the SU, university, and societies. This would also entail promoting our call for submissions.

Sub-Editors

The sub-editors are in charge of proofreading written content for the magazine, checking grammar and punctuation, fact-checking, and ensuring submissions and articles generally make sense.

How to Get Involved

Please email all submissions/queries to onedge.northumbria@gmail.com. Please write VOLUNTEER followed by your desired role in the subject line. Introduce yourself and any experience you may have (think of what you’ve done on your course).
