Together with Eva-Maria Muschick and Elisabeth Roehrlich, our GLO advisory board member Sandrine Kott has co-edited a volume on International Organizations and the Cold War: Competition, Cooperation, and Convergence, which has now been published by Bloomsbury Academic. Thanks to support from the Swiss National Science Foundation, the book is available in open access, via this link.
Featuring research from an international cast of seventeen historians, the volume explores the role of international organizations not only as sites for Cold War conflict but also as spaces for exchanges, encounters, communication and negotiation. Alongside co-authoring the introduction, Professor Kott has written also contributed a chapter on “Anti-Fascist Networks in International Organizations: Beyond the War”. The volume also included a chapter from GLO’s Co-PI Daniel Gorman, entitled “Experiments in Conciliation: The United Nations, Kashmir, and Decolonization, 1948–1950”.
