A few weeks ago the Northumbria RE:PLAY team (Nic, Anna, Ian, Lauren, Andrew & Kevin) went to the Shine Awards gala dinner as nominees — and came home as winners of the Innovation Award. Woop woop!!
The Shine Awards celebrate colleagues who embody Northumbria’s values, and the Innovation Award is specifically for people and teams who dare to be different, challenge the status quo, and embrace change. Which feels like a pretty good description of what RE:PLAY is all about — asking awkward questions about how and why we teach the way we do, and being genuinely excited about what might be possible instead.
To be recognised for that, by our own institution, at a proper gala dinner with the team together, is something we’ll remember for a long time.
Enormous congratulations to everyone who was shortlisted and to all the other winners. The room was full of people doing brilliant things and it showed.
