Navigating Urban Ecologies (NUE) is a new university-led research project, funded by the AHRC (Grant Ref: UKRI271), that investigates the complex socio-ecological dynamics of Kittiwakes along the River Tyne. The project explores how these seabirds interact with the urban environment and what their presence reveals about the changing relationships between people, wildlife, and the city.
KitMap collects images of kittiwakes in Newcastle and surrounding areas. Your photos help track where these birds are seen.
To contribute:
• Take a new photo of a kittiwake, or select existing photos from your phone or computer.
• Upload them through the “Upload Your Images” section on the KitMap website.
