We are pleased to announce that the first research article using NU-Pico – “Transformative Bioactive Wear Resistant Ti3Au:N and Ti3Au:O Coatings for Medical Implants and Devices” has just been published in Advanced Healthcare Materials journal.
This study demonstrates that β-Ti₃Au coatings doped with low interstitial nitrogen/oxygen species can exhibit exceptional hardness 💎, superior wear resistance, and excellent biocompatibility — paving the way for longer-lasting artificial implants.
In this this work the new i04 Femto nanoindenter was used to measure the hardness and modulus of the coatings and compare the results against those achieved with our previous nanoindentation system.
