{"id":114,"date":"2018-05-24T13:54:22","date_gmt":"2018-05-24T12:54:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/socialcultgeog.wordpress.com\/?p=114"},"modified":"2018-06-18T13:39:53","modified_gmt":"2018-06-18T12:39:53","slug":"ge0242-geopolitics-of-ethnic-identities-playlist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.northumbria.ac.uk\/socialcultgeog\/?p=114","title":{"rendered":"GE0242 &#8211; Geopolitics of Ethnic Identities Playlist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of the final year module \u2018Geopolitics of Ethnic Identities\u2019 taught by John Clayton, students are asked to\u00a0 write a critical review of a media source (or aspects of that source) that speaks in some way to the themes, concepts and theories covered in the module.<\/p>\n<p>Students provide a detailed commentary and critical evaluation of the source material, which this year has included a range of journalistic sources, feature films, cartoons, books, television programmes, poetry and music. Interestingly there has also been a tendency towards sources routed through a US perspective. The strength of assignments this year has been particularly impressive, and broadly speaking the group have demonstrated a clear ability to engage with issues of \u2018race\u2019 and ethnicity with sensitivity and criticality.
