Northumbria deeply cares about the impact it has and makes on the North East region and its&nbsp;people. Still marked by their historic coal mining, fishing and ship building industries, many parts of the North East continue to face&nbsp;underinvestment, public service concerns, and ongoing economic disparities.<\/p>\n<p>The region includes diverse rural, urban, and coastal areas. Its challenges range from reducing child poverty, securing health service provision and equitable education to developing renewable energy and preparing for water scarcity.
