Tom is a Professor of Applied Health and Social Care Research. He is a medical sociologist and an applied qualitative health researcher. His research has been concerned with the organisation and delivery of healthcare as well as experiences of people with chronic and long term conditions. Recently the focus of his research has been on the development, implementation, and testing of healthcare interventions largely in large trials.
