Explore new research, see our interactive AI policing tool, and discuss transparency and accountability in policing.
AI is already shaping policing, yet transparency and public communication have not kept pace with its rapid adoption. As public confidence declines and technology-driven crime accelerates, there is an urgent need for clearer oversight and accountability. The recent Home Office white paper From Local to National: A New Model for Policing (27 January 2026) calls for “publishing and maintaining a registry of the AI tools the police are using and the steps they’ve taken to test and evaluate them before deployment.”
Over the past year, the PROBabLE Futures team has researched the probabilistic AI tools being deployed, trialled, or experimented across the main stages of the criminal justice system in England and Wales. We have developed an interactive mapping tool that documents our findings and could serve as a foundation for the kind of registry the white paper envisions.
Join us to explore our research, see the tool demonstration, and discuss how it might support more transparent and accountable policing.
