The Woeful Ballad of Invisible Girl<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There once lived a girl with superhuman powers,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But this girl did not shoot lasers or climb up towers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead, this girl’s blessed traits,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Were that she could turn invisible, and lift heavy crates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No one could see her,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No one wanted to be her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, she walked around with a frown<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That not even the funniest person could turn around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One day a girl no older than three                                                    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Came up to Invisible Girl merrily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She handed her a card wrapped in brown string.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Invisible Girl took it, she almost did sing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“What is this thing?” She said aloud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Tis a gift for you!” She was ever so proud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then Invisible Girl opened it with a smile,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and she grew more visible, all the while.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The card was drawn with glitter and paint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, when she read it, she almost did faint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead of Invisible Girl’s name written in gold,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The card said: “To Flying Girl, I’d like to be like you when I get old!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Invisible Girl’s smile dropped to a frown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She felt embarrassed. She felt like a clown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You see, this girl had mixed up her name<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With another hero who had much more fame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The girl skipped away to her mum and her dad,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And Invisible Girl was left feeling sad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The people at the park played in the sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some fed the ducks, and others went for a run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Invisible Girl realised that she’d never be great,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And so, she solemnly accepted her fate,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Slowly and sadly, she faded away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She did not return, not even the next day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
