By Nadia Parfunik<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n A myriad of golden leaves<\/p>\n\n\n\n the hum of wildlife in the trees,<\/p>\n\n\n\n I fall in love with this season<\/p>\n\n\n\n more with every falling leaf,<\/p>\n\n\n\n or shade of gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We behold nature dying<\/p>\n\n\n\n this time of year, nocturnal<\/p>\n\n\n\n unfolding like a white piece of paper<\/p>\n\n\n\n ripped out of your favourite journal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Schoolgirls wearing those perfect plaid skirts<\/p>\n\n\n\n leaving their classes<\/p>\n\n\n\n with hair the colour of molasses<\/p>\n\n\n\n going home to dream up,<\/p>\n\n\n\n the beginning of their new life<\/p>\n\n\n\n dreaming with ink, a blank sheet<\/p>\n\n\n\n just like me, and those before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Eclectic, I know<\/p>\n\n\n\n soon enough surrounded by snow<\/p>\n\n\n\n and hope and the moon’s pale glow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ideas are like gold,<\/p>\n\n\n\n behold them melting slow<\/p>\n\n\n\n nurture them as so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Outside the window of the train,<\/p>\n\n\n\n there’s a swan looking peaceful<\/p>\n\n\n\n like a pearl in clear water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As if to say, like The Hollies<\/p>\n\n\n\n All I need is the air that I breathe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n About this piece<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Themes: Nature<\/p>\n\n\n\n About the author<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n My name is Nadia and since I can remember I have always been writing short stories and poems in my journal.
