Northumbria University’s Celebration of Education

Working Together: Creating Learning Opportunities for all

Date: 7th March 2024

We are pleased to announce the very first Celebration of Education at Northumbria. Our recently established Community for Innovation in Teaching and Education (CITE) is delighted to invite all staff and students to join us in showcasing innovative education practice.

The Celebration of Education aims to:

1. Bring academics, technical, learning and professional support teams, students and employers together, as partners in educational innovation, good practice and excellence.

2. Celebrate innovation, good practice and excellent education across the University.

3. Inspire adventurous pedagogies, and participative learning suited to contemporary students’ expectations and needs.

The overall approach of the Celebration of Education will be participatory and exploratory, engaging colleagues and students-as-partners in learning activities. We encourage diversity of activities and facilitators, and intend to actively include student led activities, and involve technical/learning/professional support teams. The Celebration has been scheduled within the University’s Enhancement Week to enable colleagues to integrate this into their Enhancement Week activities both for themselves and their students.

Do you have an example of good practice, innovation or research in teaching and learning that you would like to share with your colleagues? We are inviting contributions under the overall theme of “Working Together: Creating Learning Opportunities for all” within the following formats:

  • Marketplace (10-minute informal presentation or activity without slides and discussion)
  • Active learning workshops or practice performance (1/2 hour or 1 hour, please indicate duration)
  • Enhancement activity presentation (15-20-minute presentation and 10-15mins discussion)
  • Pecha Kucha (20 slides / 20s timing per slide)

If you wish to take part in this event, please make sure you enrol here

Please submit your contribution here by the 9th February 2024.

The outcome of your submission will be notified 21st February 2024.
