{"id":1957,"date":"2025-09-15T13:00:29","date_gmt":"2025-09-15T13:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.northumbria.ac.uk\/glo\/?p=1957"},"modified":"2025-09-29T23:33:18","modified_gmt":"2025-09-29T23:33:18","slug":"glo-at-global-history-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.northumbria.ac.uk\/glo\/?p=1957","title":{"rendered":"GLO at global history conference"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From 10 to 12 September 2025, the European Network in Universal and Global History (<a href=\"https:\/\/eniugh.org\/congress\/\">ENIUGH<\/a>) held the <a href=\"https:\/\/eniugh.org\/congress\/\">Eight European Congress on World and Global History<\/a>. Taking place in the Swedish city of V\u00e4xj\u00f6, several GLO members were involved. Along with colleagues from the <a href=\"https:\/\/csi.bbk.ac.uk\/projects\/rethinking-internationalism-histories-and-pluralities-2024-2026\/\">&#8216;Rethinking Internationalism&#8217;<\/a> project, <strong>Daniel Laqua<\/strong> convened and spoke at a double panel on &#8216;Writing Global Histories through the Prism of Internationalism&#8217;. <strong>Gordon Barrett<\/strong>, who works as a Research Fellow on GLO, contributed a paper on &#8216;The Global Politics of Scientific Internationalism(s) in the 1957\u201358 International Geophysical Year and After&#8217;, which relates to some of the GLO-related research he is doing on global scientific governance.  Meanwhile, Swiss GLO Co-I <strong>Amalia Ribi Forclaz<\/strong> co-convened a panel entitled &#8216;Towards an Environmental History of International Organisations, 1945\u20132000&#8217;, which also introduced the work of the SNF- funded project <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chemicalcrossroads.com\/\">&#8216;Chemical Crossroads:\u00a0Agrarian Transitions,\u00a0Pesticide Controversies and International Governance,\u00a01940\u20131970&#8217;<\/a>, which Amalia is co-directing with Corinna Unger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\"
