{"id":1694,"date":"2025-05-29T16:10:08","date_gmt":"2025-05-29T16:10:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.northumbria.ac.uk\/glo\/?p=1694"},"modified":"2025-06-16T16:10:42","modified_gmt":"2025-06-16T16:10:42","slug":"phd-thesis-defence-of-simon-ballesteros","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.northumbria.ac.uk\/glo\/?p=1694","title":{"rendered":"PhD thesis defence of Sim\u00f3n Ballesteros"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Thursday, 22 May 2025, Sim\u00f3n Ballesteros successfully defended his PhD dissertation, titled <em>Explaining Variation in the Democratic Character of Constitution-Making Processes: A Comparative Analysis<\/em>\u201d, at Georgetown University. Using quantitative analysis of an original dataset of 348 constitution-making processes between 1945 and 2024, along with a qualitative case study of Chile\u2019s most recent sequence of constitution-making processes, Sim\u00f3n shows how the configuration of actors and the type of conflict preceding constitution-making shape the democratic nature of the processes through which national constitutions are drafted.
