The EC has announced five inducement prizes in the areas of health, ICT and environment. These are funded through Horizon 2020 and aim to deliver breakthrough solutions to problems of societal interest in Europe. Each competition will open at the beginning of 2015.

Thanks to UKRO, we have the link to an interesting presentation by the newly appointed ERC President, Prof Jean-Pierre Bourgignon. The slides present statistics on the development of the ERC, the number of researchers funded and the success rates. It is worth noting that the UK has received the most grants and UK universities are high on the list of funded institutions.
