A new Horizon 2020 pilot programme has been launched. The Fast Track to Innovation (FTI) programme will fund close to market, business driven projects in any area included in Horizon 2020. Consortia must have between 3-5 members established in at least three countries. High impact proposals will receive funding of 1-2 million euro. A call for proposals will open in January 2015 with three cut-off dates in 2015-16.

The EC has announced five inducement prizes in the areas of health, ICT and environment. These are funded through Horizon 2020 and aim to deliver breakthrough solutions to problems of societal interest in Europe. Each competition will open at the beginning of 2015.

The slides present statistics on the development of the ERC, the number of researchers funded and the success rates. It is worth noting that the UK has received the most grants and UK universities are high on the list of funded institutions.
